Job Summary

Working under the direction of the Certification Working Group Chairs the Lab Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Laboratory (WFDCL) processes and procedures. These include the execution of the CWG lab RFP process; coordinating yearly audits with AT4 of existing affiliate WiMAX Forum designated certification labs; collecting and managing results of all lab audits by the CWG Lab subgroup; developing and managing a laboratory testing proficiency program; assisting CWG Chair with biannual Lab business reviews and establishing and managing the WiMAX Qualification Body Program for all Certification Labs. The Lab Operations Manager will act as the central contact point for all issues related to the suitability of a WFDCL to perform testing under the WiMAX Forum banner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the CWG Chair with the execution of the lab RFP process for the selection of any WiMAX Certification Lab.
  • Provides meeting minutes, and highlights action items and due dates for all CWG Lab subgroup meetings. Attend CWG face-to-face meetings as needed.
  • Keeps records of all ISO17025 audits conducted by the CWG lab subgroup and those conducted by AT4 wireless lead lab on behalf of the CWG. This is to include tracking of all discrepancies and resolution of the discrepancies.
  • Informs and provides all CWG Lab subgroup members of RFP responses during the lab selection process.
  • Tracks the lab capacity load of all Certification Labs using the WiMAXCert tool. Reports to capacity issues to the CWG lab subgroup for resolution.
  • Develop and implement a laboratory proficiency/comparison testing program in accordance with the principles of good certification program management and the requirements of ISO Guide 65.
  • Development and roll out and management of WiMAX Qualification Body Program to ensures qualified technical representative is in place at each WiMAX certification lab as interface to resolve testing issues before escalation to CWG Chair
  • Carry out world-wide travel schedule to ensure audits by lead lab of affiliate labs are in accordance with ISO17025 criteria and that certification program is in compliance with ISO Guide 65.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in lab testing environment working within globally diverse teams in the wireless, telecom, software or computer industry. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or similar). Familiarity with languages in addition to English will be considered a plus. The successful candidate must demonstrate highly effective written and verbal skills in managing third party relationships in multiple cultures and languages. In addition, the successful candidate must possess moderate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project. Finally, the successful candidate must be able to handle a varied work schedule and time commitments, and be able to travel domestically or internationally for at least 50% during any given month's work schedule. Previous experienced as a lab auditor under the American Association for Laboratory accreditation or a former certified qualification body representative in another wireless communication technology will also be considered a plus.
