Northern Michigan University
Northern Michigan University, located in Michigan's unique Upper Peninsula, is a dynamic four-year, public, coeducational university which offers 180 degree programs to nearly 9,400 undergraduate and graduate students.
NMU is one of the largest notebook computer campuses in the United States with all full-time students receiving either a Lenovo ThinkPad or Apple MacBook as part of tuition. The university has national and international awards for its innovative work in the area of technology in higher education.
NMU has deployed a private Motorola based Mobile WiMAX network in the City of Marquette, MI Fall 2009 and City of Negaunee, MI Feb 2010. This network currently supports the following clients: 3000 - Lenovo ThinkPad''s with Intel 5350 WiMAX cards, 500 - Motorola CPEi 150, and 500 Motorola USBw 25100 adapters. This coming fall of 2010 NMU will add an additional 6000 - Lenovo ThinkPads with Intel 6250 cards.
