Dave Williams is the senior vice president of wireless technology at Comcast Corporation, headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is responsible for the evaluation and strategy of wireless technology solutions. Additionally, his expertise serves the boards of the GSM Association, Vantage Point, Bubble Motion, the Femto Forum and the WiMAX Forum.
Most recently, Williams was Telefonica O2’s chief technology officer, where he merged Telefonica’s and O2’s networks. His experience includes running all the technological operations for Cingular Wireless and involvement in several mergers. Through the merger of BellSouth Cellular and SBC Wireless in the Western Region, as VP of operations, he was involved with the company’s network buildout. He joined SBC Wireless following the company’s acquisition of Pacific Bell Mobile Services, where he was key to the integration of their two networks.
Earlier in his career, Williams relocated to the United States to direct the buildout of one of the country’s first digital mobile networks for Pacific Bell after working for both Orange and Vodafone in the United Kingdom. He holds an OND and HND from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.
