Besides working in standards for the past 11 years, Al has held various positions in the telecommunications industry including: system engineering, development and system test.

Dr. Cheng-Wen Wu

Cheng-Wen Wu received the BSEE degree from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 1981, and the MS and PhD degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), in 1985 and 1987, respectively. Since 1988, he has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Hsinchu, Taiwan, where he is currently a Tsing Hua Chair Professor. He also serves as the Vice President and General Director of Information and Communications Research Laboratories (ICL) at ITRI.

He leads over 175 engineering professionals in service architecture, core and radio access network (RAN) design, lab and field testing, device engineering and certification, systems R&D, and end-to-end systems integration.

Dr. Fumio Watanabe

Dr. Watanabe has 30 years of experience in research and development on satellite communication systems and mobile communication systems including IMT-2000, IMT-Advanced and WiMAX. He also has long activity in international standardization of mobile systems in ITU-R TG8/1 and WP8F. He is CTO of UQ Communications Inc. He is also the Executive Director & General Manager of Network Technology Division of KDDI.

He is also responsible for standard strategies of major projects including WiMAX, LTE/SAE/IMS, IMT-Advanced and NGSON. Besides these areas, his management scope also covers IPTV, MPEG, and ITU-T SG16 and SG12. He is a member of IEEE-SA Corporate Advisory Group (CaG) in 2007 to 2009, as well as a member of IEEE-SA BoG International Ad Hoc in 2009.
