This one-day course introduces both technical and non-technical aspects of WiMAX technology to enable the delegate to fully understand how this important technology fits into the future of wireless communications.
The need for WiMAX-enabled services is analyzed and the standards processes from the IEEE and other bodies are covered. Examples of current and future WiMAX applications are given including broadband wireless access (BWA), backhaul networks, and mobile systems.
WiMAX technology may be deployed in licensed or unlicensed bands; the differences are explained in this course, along with methods of reducing interference and improving performance. Radio and capacity planning are also considered as well as some aspects of WiMAX system security.
