Membership Types
Memberships are based on a calendar year. The WiMAX Forum bills its members annually. Membership dues will be pro-rated on a quarterly basis for those members who join other than at the beginning of the calendar year (Q1 = 100%, Q2 = 75%, Q3 = 50%, Q4 = 25%). Prorated dues are based on the date a member is accepted into the Forum.
Selecting Your Company's Membership Type
Companies that must apply as Principal Members include:
- System manufacturers
- Companies that make broadband wireless systems
- PHY semiconductors
- MAC semiconductors or PHY/MAC semiconductors
Additionally, if you answer yes to any of the following questions, your company should apply as a Principal member:
- Does your company have plans to ship or deploy and operate Supported Standard products?
- Does your company have plans to produce ship or deploy components that are used within Supported Standard products?
- Does your company plan to be active in the workgroups and wish to participate in the voting counts?
If none of the above applies to your company, you may join as a Regular or Regular Plus Member. (Regular Plus memberships include full access to the WiMAX Forum Spectrum and Regulatory Database.) Regular members include:
- Network operators
- Antenna vendors RF semiconductor vendors
- And others

- Does your company plan to be active in the workgroups and wish to participate in the voting counts?
If you answered "Yes" to any of the above questions, your company should apply as a Principal member.
Principal (2008)
Apply for Principal (2008) MembershipDescription:
- Company Sales: less than $50M
Fee: $25,000 - Company Sales: between $50-400M
Fee: $30,000 - Company Sales: over $400M
Fee: $40,000
Eligibility:
Companies that must apply as Principal Members include:- Companies that make broadband wireless systems
- PHY semiconductors
- MAC semiconductors or PHY/MAC semiconductors
Benefits:
- Access to all working group documents
- Attend all WiMAX working group meetings
- Voting rights in working group meetings
- Hold leadership positions within the group
- Access the WiMAX Forum Spectrum and Regulatory Database.
Principal members must:
- Agree to actively promote the Supported Standard as the primary standard for metropolitan and wide-area wireless networking. Currently the supported standard in 2-11 GHz frequencies is 256 FFT OFDM PHY Layer as the initial and primary interoperability mode.
- Demonstrate plans to ship Supported Standard compliant products.
- Supply a written statement (email is fine) that you agree to the
statements in the bylaws under section 4.a.iii. for principal Members. - Within two months (60 calendar days) of your membership approval, develop a press release, to be reviewed by WiMAX, indicating that you have joined and are in support of WiMAX.
- In addition, the WiMAX board may review various portions of your current website and promotional materials to make sure that you comply
with section 4.a.iii. of the current bylaws. - Actively promote & support the WiMAX goals and achievements through advertising on your website, at marketing events and shows, and in correspondence & press releases.
Regular (2008)
Apply for Regular (2008) MembershipDescription:
- Company Sales: less than $50M
Fee: $5,000 - Company Sales: between $50-400M
Fee: $10,000 - Company Sales: over $400M
Fee: $15,000

Regular Plus (2008)

- Company Sales: less than $50M
Fee: $7,400 - Company Sales: between $50-400M
Fee: $12,400 - Company Sales: over $400M
Fee: $17,400
