Anite, a global leader in testing technology for the wireless industry, and Sequans Communications, a leading supplier and developer of fixed and mobile WiMAX semiconductor solutions, today announced a partnership to speed time-to-market for Mobile WiMAX certified terminals. Anite's WiMAX Protocol Conformance Toolset (PCT) will be used in conjunction with its WiMAX Base Station Emulator to ensure the conformance of Sequans' reference designs, based on its SQN1110 and SQN1130 Mobile WiMAX chipset, to WiMAX standards.

Protocol testing is vital in ensuring that WiMAX products are able to communicate and network effectively but the process can be very slow. By reducing the time investment associated with achieving WiMAX certification, companies are able to increase their focus on further development, speeding the progression of new technology.

This collaboration follows Anite's existing partnerships with leading developers of WiMAX technology positioning the company as the de-facto leader in conformance testing for WiMAX chipset vendors.

Anite's WiMAX Base Station Emulator is designed to test WiMAX Mobile Stations running Wave 1 and Wave 2 protocol conformance test cases. Anite has already completed testing in conjunction with Sequans for advanced features such as Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ), Idle Mode and Payload Header Suppression (PHS).

"Collaborating with Anite is of significant benefit to Sequans in ensuring our products reach the market as quickly as possible" said Ambroise Popper, Director of Product Marketing for Mobile Chipset, Sequans Communications. "Anite's strong heritage in creating leading test solutions which meet the latest standards for WiMAX certification was a key factor in our decision to initiate this partnership."

"Sequans' decision to form a partnership with Anite is further proof of the high regard in which we are held by chipset vendors" said James Goodwin, WiMAX Product Manager, Anite. "Our PCT has become the solution of choice by keeping abreast of WiMAX development and innovation and offering functionality unmatched by our competitors. Protocol testing is critical for success in the early days of this technology and Anite has established itself as a key partner for this process."
