Certification and Testing
Dataquest Insight: The Reality of Mobile WiMAX Certification
WiMAX Forum certification for mobile 802.16e-2005, especially Wave 2, was finally launched in December 2007 following a complex process of profile and test-case selection that impacted the certification timeline. Service providers planning to deploy WiMAX must closely evaluate their business cases, as technologies for mobile broadband — such as wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA), High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) — remain. Operators need to consider the deployment of pre-certified product solutions if the business environment mandates quick time to market with wireless data services.
