This document specifies the WiMAX Forum® Certification Automation Test Interface (CATI). It defines the CATI physical interface and protocol of applicable messaging between the Test Equipment (TE) and the candidate WiMAX Forum Certified product. The CATI facilitates automation of the referenced WiMAX Forum conformance and interoperability test specifications to improve the efficiency of certification testing. This document may also provide guidance for Test Equipment implementation. This document specifies basic CATI functionality and is not intended to preclude vendor-specific extensions to a vendor-supplied test interface.

The profile is based on IEEE Std 802.16m and backward compatible to Certification Release 1b of WiMAX Forum Mobile System Profile Release 1 as specified in [2] and [3]. Although this document includes features related to the categorization of Release 2 devices, the details of device categorization including relevant parameters are covered in [5].
