Roaming: Roaming guidelines/best practices (T40)
The Roaming Guidelines provide an overview of WiMAX roaming for WiMAX operators, infrastructure and equipment developers and WiMAX Roaming eXchange Providers (WRX). The Roaming Guidelines describe the roaming process and provide technical information about the deployment of WiMAX networks to enable roaming. The Guidelines also include a description of the roaming architecture, accounting and settlement functions, and an overview of a technical solution for roaming services between WiMAX Network Service Providers (NSP).
The WiMAX™ Roaming Interface (WRI) Code is a unique code that identifies business entities, such as Network Service Providers (NSP) and WiMAX Roaming Exchanges (WRX), which use the WiMAX™ Roaming Interface Specifications (WRIs) to enable wholesale billing and settlement between NSPs for the use of each others’ networks for roaming. Each business entity using the WiMAX Roaming Interface Specifications is required to have a unique WRI Code to identify it. The WRI Code is used in conjunction with the WRI Architecture for offline exchange of roaming information between business entities. This information is used to support the following accounting functions: wholesale rating, clearing and financial settlement. The WiMAX Forum® issues and administers WRI Codes. An applicant may request a specific WRI Code as part of the application process. To apply for a WRI Code, click on the WRI Code Application Tab and complete and submit the form. A WRI Code will be assigned and sent to the applicant. Any subsequent changes such as contact information should be submitted using the WRI Code Application and checking the “update” box. For complete documentation about WRI Code please download the full WRI Code pdf document below.
