Top-line highlights of this month's data include:
- 13 new WiMAXTM network deployments were announced, ranging in from small -Sacred Wind Communications in the USA - to large - Iberbanda's new Mobile WiMAXTM network.
- Despite the credit crunch, money is still being invested in WiMAX technology. For example, this month Malaysian WiMAX Operator Packet One Networks announced that it would invest heavily in Chilean operator Inverca Telecommunications (for more information, see Regulatory Update below).
- WiMAX Forum conducted primary and secondary research in February showing that WiMAX deployments cover more than 430 Million POPs worldwide, and are forecasted to reach 800 Million POPs by the end of 2010.
- This month's featured operator case study highlights VMAX Telecom, an upcoming Taiwanese WiMAX operator
- WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Laboratories (WFDCL's) produced 15 WiMAX Forum Certified™ products in Q1 2009.
