This 4-day course is designed for engineers who have some RF background, to develop their RF engineering skills, specifically for WiMAX network design. The boot camp covers all of the necessary topics to prepare a technical student to take the WiMAX Forum RF Network Engineer certification exam.

WiMAX Forum Core Network Engineer Certification Boot Camp

Course taught by DoceoTech, Inc.

This 4-day Boot Camp course covers all the necessary topics to prepare a technical student to take the WiMAX Forum Core Network Engineer™ certification exam. It is designed for engineers who will be implementing the core elements of a WiMAX network.

Engineers will gain practical knowledge of core-network requirements as documented by WiMAX Forum working groups, and develop skills on appropriate core-network engineering tools. In hands-on labs, students will have the opportunity to configure and view traffic breakouts on a WiChorus ASN Gateway’s R interfaces. They will be able to test their core design skills using case studies that are evaluated using OPNET’s SP Guru Network Planner WiMAX simulator. Basic Knowledge of IP networking is a pre-requisite for the course.

At the end of this course, the successful student should have the skills to choose among design tradeoffs for a secure, efficient, high-performance core network.

WiMAX Forum Network AssociateCertification Boot Camp

Course taught by DoceoTech, Inc.

This 4-day Boot Camp course covers all of the necessary topics to prepare a technical student to take the WiMAX Forum Network Associate™ certification exam. The course is designed for WiMAX technicians who require skills training to install, configure, field-test, and commission a WiMAX network.

For our hands-on labs, we employ Aperto and Telsima base stations and fixed subscriber stations as samples of WiMAX Forum Certified™ equipment, Anritsu multifunction field test sets, and WirelessLogix mobile drive test lab equipment.

The emphasis is on the installation, configuration, tuning, and basic troubleshooting of typical WiMAX networks. The course can be an excellent preparation for vendor-specific training, or a great intro to WiMAX best practices for any operator’s implementation.

This boot camp is structured as 30% tutorial content in ten chapters, and 70% hands-on exercises in twelve labs, centered around an ongoing case study. Through a special arrangement with Aperto Networks, Telsima, Anritsu, and WirelessLogix, the lab is equipped with base station, subscriber station, and field test equipment for use with in-class exercises. Students will have the experience of installing and commissioning all of the equipment for a sample WiMAX-served community.

WiMAX and 802.16e: Broadband Wireless Standards

This 2-day course focuses on the contents of the IEEE 802.16-2004 and 802.16e-2005 standards for broadband wireless access technology. WiMAX Explained

This 2-day course introduces both technical and non-technical aspects of WiMAX technology to enable the delegate to fully understand how this important technology fits into the future of wireless communications.

The need for WiMAX-enabled services are analyzed, followed by examples of current and future WiMAX applications, including broadband wireless access (BWA), backhaul networks, and mobiles systems. The use of WiMAX technology in both licensed and unlicensed bands is explored, together with the major differences in deployment for the differing WiMAX scenarios, as well the role of IEEE and other standardization initiatives.

The basic elements and principles of WiMAX operation (including a protocol stack) are covered, including adaptive modulation, MAC convergence layers, and Support for QoS and PMP/Mesh architectures. Radio and Capacity planning issues are presented, along with methods of reducing interference and improving performance. WiMAX Forum’s Introduction to OFDM and OFDMA™ E-Learning Course

The technical strengths of the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed Access (OFDMA) technology, coupled with the compliance testing of the WiMAX Forum™, have provided the market with scalable, high-capacity, interoperable, cost-effective, standard radio equipment.

OFDM (which underlies OFDMA) provides resistance to multipath interference in non-line-of-sight operations. OFDMA’s broadband channel sizes, use of sub-carriers and dynamically-assigned sub-channels, and bandwidth request and allocation schemes underlie its spectral efficiency and flexibility. Most engineers who have worked on outdoor wireless networks have little acquaintance with Scalable OFDMA as used in WiMAX.
